Nickie L. Wall

MSG Nickie Wall, US Army (RET), beloved husband of Renate Wall, entered into rest on Saturday, May 11, 2024.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, May 16, 2024, in the Belair Road chapel of Platts Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens.

Nickie was born on May 29, 1947, in Ivanhoe, Virginia. He was drafted into the Army at age 20 and spent the next twenty-one years serving his country at various military bases all over the world. He retired in 1989 with the rank of Master Sergeant and went to work for the VA Hospital. He was a hockey fan and was a member of the Augusta Lynx Booster club, and was also active in the German American Club. He’ll be remembered as a devoted husband and father, and had a special relationship with his late grandson, Kevin.

In addition to his wife, Renate, he is survived by his sons, Dirk Zettelmeier (Leah) and Donald Wall (Judy) and a nephew, James C. “Hap” King Jr. (Kalliope).

He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen, his precious grandson, Kevin Zettelmeier and his brothers and sister, Robert Walls, Donald Wall and Shelby Jean King.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the charity of one’s choice.
