Myrna Cook Smith

Myrna Cook Smith, of Augusta, Ga, entered into rest on Friday, June 20, 2025 at age 86.

Myrna was a retired RN having worked in the Operating Room at St. Joseph’s Hospital for 35 years. She loved the people that she worked with and took great pride in her work. It was poetic that her passing occurred in the place where she touched countless lives.

She was a long standing member of Crawford Avenue Baptist Church. She loved the fellowship of the Faithful Ones and found much joy in volunteering in the food pantry there and helping with the children’s ministry.

Myrna leaves behind to cherish her memory her son, Robb (Valerie) Smith; daughter in law Virginia Smith; grandchildren Jacob (Holly) Smith, Jeremy Smith, Matthew Smith, Elizabeth Smith, and Alexis Jilinski; great granddaughter Viviana Smith; and cousins Terri Sanders and Ronnie Thompson. Preceding her in death is her son Dr. Tom Smith; parents Benjamin D. Cook and Evelyn Mason Cook; sister Bernice Cook; and cousin Vivian Cook.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, June 27, 2025 at Platt’s Funeral Home, Belair Road Chapel, Rev. Joey Thompson officiating. The family will receive guests for one hour prior to the service. In honor of Myrna the family is requesting guests wear casual attire and wear something red as it was her favorite color. Interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Crawford Avenue Baptist Church or to Golden Harvest Food Bank.
