Miriam Usry Anguilla, age 87, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025. In her final days, she was lovingly cared for by the compassionate nurses and assistants at Hospice of Northeast Georgia Health Systems in Gainesville, Georgia. Her family offers a heartfelt thank you to Megan, Kristy, Mitsy, Amber, Kristen, and Andrea for their tender loving care and support.

Miriam was born in Augusta, Georgia, on August 22, 1937, to H.D. and Laurie Usry. She spent her early years in Augusta and proudly graduated with Richmond Academy’s Class of 1955. During her early adulthood, she worked as a homemaker while moving to various Air Force bases with her first husband and three children before settling in Cocoa, Florida, in 1967. There, she took a position as a bank secretary while independently raising her children.

In 1975, Miriam returned to her beloved hometown of Augusta and began a career as a legal secretary. There, she met and married the love of her life, Fred Anguilla. Together, they created a warm and welcoming home — affectionately called The Anguilla Villa — and filled their 39 years together with laughter, family gatherings, and countless happy memories.

In 2021, Miriam moved to Flowery Branch, Georgia, to live with one of her daughters and sons-in-law. She enjoyed the perfect balance of independence and togetherness — filling her days with crossword puzzles, her favorite soap and game shows, watching the geese on the lake while waving at the passing golfers and most importantly, family time.

Miriam will be remembered for her friendly spirit, her fun attitude, and her deeply caring nature. She had a gift for making people feel seen, heard, and valued, and she brought joy to everyone lucky enough to know her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Fred Anguilla; her parents, H.D. and Laurie Usry; her brother, Horace Usry; and her sister, Wren Sanders.

She is survived by her children, Vicki LaRoche (Stu), Cindi Bone (Tom), and Chuck Williams (Heather); her grandchildren, Lindsey LaRoche, Austin LaRoche (Anna), Tyler LaRoche, Brad Bone (Sarah), and Audrey Bocci (Andrew); and her great-grandsons, Xavier and Tyson. She is also survived by her stepchildren Cathy Anguilla-Shillock (Tom), Chris Anguilla (Lynda) and their families.

A private burial will be held for immediate family, with a celebration of her life to follow at a later date. Memorials may be made to her favorite charity, The Next Stop Foundation, an organization serving adults with special needs, founded by her daughter and son-in-law in 2007. Donations may be made online at www.thenextstop.org or mail checks to The Next Stop, 4617 Midlands Green, Flowery Branch, GA 30542.
