Michael Daniel Cappa (78) beloved father, grandfather, husband and friend, of Evans, Ga, passed away in his sleep on November 29, 2025 in Augusta, Ga at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center.
Michael was born in San Francisco, CA to Mary Perez and Michael Perez Franko on March 1, 1947. He attended and graduated from Balboa High School in San Francisco. He married Aileen Anderson on April 26, 1975 in Lake Tahoe, California.
He worked as a Correctional Officer for Augusta Correctional Medical Institute now known as Augusta State Medical Prison for 20 years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Marine Corps and Army and was awarded the Purple Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, USMC Conduct Medal and Army Good Conduct Medal.
Michael is preceded in death by his mother-Mary Perez, step-father-John Cappa and Half-Brother – Joseph Cappa.
Michael is survived by his wife-Aileen Cappa, son-Marc Cappa and his wife Katie Cappa and daughter-Noelle Mesa (Cappa) and her husband Marco Mesa-Frias and grandchildren, Jacob and Callie Marie Cappa.

The family of Michael wishes to extend sincere thanks to Charlie Norwood VA hospital Uptown division and Fresenius Dialysis Center in Evans, Ga for caring for our loved one the past 3 years and Augusta 1st SDA church for holding the memorial service and being a support these past 3 years to our family.
Memorial Service will be held 3 PM on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at Augusta 1st SDA Church with Elder Robert Thompson of Augusta 1st SDA Church officiating.
