Medora Browning

Ms. Medora E. Browning entered into rest on Monday, February 2, 2026 at Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center.

She was born in 1949, in Merced, California, one of four children of George and Doty Browning. As part of a military family, she spent her childhood at various bases all over the world. It inspired her to enter military service herself, and in 1981, she joined the United States Navy.

Upon leaving the service, she continued her educational pursuits by obtaining a bachelors of mathematics from Baylor University, and went on to earn a masters degree from the University of Alabama. Since 1977, she has been involved with AA. She embraced her sobriety and gave hope to others walking along the same path.

She is survived by her brother and sister, Ray Browning (Renee Mick) and Kathryn Chamberlain, her nieces, Burns Eckert (Matt) and Annie Chamberlain, great nephews, Finn, Murphy and Garrett Eckert and special friends, Cathy Read, Maureen McCawley and Steve Wysoff.

The family would like to thank her caregivers at St John’s Towers for the loving care shown to Medora.
