November 29, 1923 — December 11, 2013

Mrs. Maxine Ponita Eaves Neville, 90, went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ, her Savior, on December 11, 2013. The funeral will be a graveside service at Westover Memorial Park, Augusta, Georgia, on Friday, December 13, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Active pallbearers will be Kevin Browder, Brian Browder, Justin Guy and Glenn Zimmerman.

She was born on November 29, 1923 in Dunbarton, SC and was the daughter of Frampton Lawton Eaves, Sr. and Maxie Ponita Hiers. She was predeceased by all seven of her brothers and sisters, namely Catherine Eaves Koon, Mildred Eaves Whitson, Buist Eaves, Sr., Harold Eaves, Frampton Lawton Eaves, Jr., Charles Lee Eaves, and Dr. Gilmore Eaves. She had deep family roots in Barnwell and Orangeburg Counties, SC and descended from some of their finest families, including Eaves, Hiers, Hartzog, Hutto, Still, and Williams.

She was very proud to be a native of Dunbarton and a graduate of Dunbarton High School, where she played on the basketball team. She attended the Dunbarton Reunion every year until her health made it impossible. She was most proud of the fact that her father operated the Dunbarton Fire Tower.

After graduating, she moved to Augusta and worked at S. H. Kress Department Store. She also played basketball on the city league team. It was while working behind the candy counter at Kress that she met and married her beloved late husband, Jack Rushing Neville, Sr. on April 23, 1944.

She dearly loved her family and it could be seen in her every word and deed. She is survived by one daughter, one son and their spouses, Charles Edward and Maxine Malissa Neville Browder, North Augusta, SC and Jack Rushing and Bobbie Jean Neville, Jr., Warrenville, SC; three grandchildren and their spouses, Justin and Tonya Browder Guy, Edgefield, SC, Kevin and Jenny Browder, New Ellenton, SC, and Brian and Sara Browder, New Ellenton, SC; and seven great-grandchildren.

She loved beautiful flowers and they will be accepted. Memorials may also be made to the Dunbarton Reunion, 98 Weeks Road, Trenton, SC 29847 or the Connie Maxwell Orphanage, P. O. Box 1178 Greenwood, SC 29648.
