Mary Ann Olson, age 76, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Monday, February 9, surrounded by her loving family at her home in Evans, Georgia.
Mary Ann was born on September 12, 1949, in Asheville, North Carolina, to Joe Wilson Collins and Eunice Waller Collins. She was raised alongside her older brother and sister.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Mary Ann was known for her caring spirit, generosity, and warm personality. She formed many lasting friendships and was deeply loved by all who knew her. She adored and was adored by her six children: Quinn Wilder of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Vincent Olson of Grafton, Wisconsin; Carisa Wilder of Ann Arbor, Michigan; Kiara Verhage of Oakland, California; Joshua Olson of Evans, Georgia; and Zak Olson of Los Angeles, California. She was also a cherished grandmother to eleven grandchildren: Mikayla, Lydia, Peter, Tori, Luke, Leila, Anya, Matthew, Kayla, Iris, and Saskia who brought her endless happiness.
Mary Ann had a lifelong love for animals, especially her dogs. Over the years, she cared for many beloved “fur babies,” with her dog Tater holding a particularly special place in her heart until the end of her life. She was often seen riding her golf cart to the park with her dogs, enjoying time outdoors and visiting with neighborhood friends.
Her interests included reading, cooking, and shopping, especially yard sales, which she never passed up. Adventurous and willing to try new things, Mary Ann held many roles throughout her life. She worked as an Operating Room Nurse in her early years, devoted herself to raising her children, and later became a successful business owner, operating Kick‑It Soccer Shop and T.H.M. Market Research.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at Platt’s Funeral Home in Evans, Georgia, on Thursday, February 19, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A celebration of life service will take place on Friday, February 20, at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church of Evans in Evans, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Grace Baptist Church of Evans, 4945 Hardy McManus Road, Evans, GA 30809, designated for The Grace Place, to help provide assistance to those in need within the community.
