Martha Ann Mullins

Mrs. Martha Ann Stewart Mullins, beloved wife of 59 years of Dr. William B. Mullins, entered into rest on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at Aiken Regional Hospital.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at the Church of the Good Shepherd with the Rev. Dr. Joe Bowden officiating. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall immediately following the service. A family burial will follow at 2:00 am at the Sewell Church Cemetery in Mansfield, Georgia.

Mrs. Mullins was one of eleven children born to Harrison and Erma Stewart in Roxana, Alabama. She attended Emory University where she obtained her nursing degree. She found her calling in caring for others. She brought compassion and excellent care to her patients, first at St. Joseph Hospital, then at University Hospital, and later with hospice care. Ann was a woman of deep faith and was a 47-year member of the Church of the Good Shepherd. She was a faithfulwife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Throughout her life, Ann found pleasure in doing things well and spending time with her family. She was a strong woman, with definite opinionswhich she didn’t hesitate to express. Saturday night dinners often includedher famous biscuits and blueberry pies. Growing flowers and unusual plants like pineapples were an important part of her life. She loved making delicious jellies from the fruit she picked in her own yard. She relished time with her Lord, reading her Bible, and reminding family, friends and other people she met that “The Lord is always with me”. We find comfort in knowing that she is now with Jesus.

She is survived by her sons, Dr. Stephen Christopher Mullins (Kathi), David Thomas Mullins (Andrea) and Robert Allen Mullins; her siblings, Myrthelene Peters Astin, Pauline Banks, Ruby Harrison, Benny Stewart, Eva Hunnicut and Adell Peters; her grandchildren, Christopher Mullins (Kiron), Abigail Moody (Rhett), Philip Mullins (Sara), Caroline Underwood, Mackenzie Mullins (Ellen), James Mullins (Nettie), Margaret Beckum and Sheriann Mullins; her great grandchildren, Lila, Betsy, Sally, Nathan, Jesse, Karina, Blake, Heid, Susan, Dennis, Birdie Beck, Rhiannon and Tennesson.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, William “Barney” Mullins, Jr and Michael Edward Mullins; a grandson, Michael Daniel Mullins; her brother, Leemon Stewart; sisters, Mary Julia Sauls, Betty Harrison and Joyce Stewart.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Mullins, Philip Mullins, Rhett Moody, Mackenzie Mullins and James Mullins.

The family would like to thank each of you for being a wonderful part of her life, with special gratitude to her exceptional and very loved caregivers and friends, Charlene Lyons and Celia Ivey.
