Marjorie Kent Newsome

Marjorie Kent Newsome, age 96 entered into rest on Wednesday, December 16, 2020. Mrs. Newsome was born in Jefferson County to the late Cyrus H. Kent and Sarah Hadden Kent. She was a dedicated mother and Grandma who was loved and revered by her family. Marjorie was very supportive of her children and instilled strong values in them. She was the oldest living member of Greater Augusta Apostolic Church where she attended faithfully over 49 years. She will be sorely missed by her family along with her church family. She also served for 21 years as the cafeteria manager to Belair Elementary School.
In addition to her parents, Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Glen E. Newsome; and her son, Edward H. Newsome.
She is survived by her children, Glenda Martin of Grovetown, Terry Newsome (Althea) of Evans, Patricia Price (Johnny) of Evans, and Penny Hand (Greg) of Avera; daughter in law, Lavonia Newsome; niece, Elaine K. Stephens (David) of Thomson; 15 Grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and 14 great-great grandchildren.
A celebration of Marjorie’s life will be held at Greater Augusta Apostolic Church at 4406 Wrightsboro Road, Grovetown, GA at 1:00 PM, Saturday, December 26. The family will receive visitors from 12:00-1:00 prior to the service. Interment will take place at 3:00 P.M. in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery near Avera. We also ask that everyone in attendance wear a mask and practice social distancing.
