Marguerite Rollins

Marguerite Sherrod Stevens Rollins having lived a full and blessed life, died peacefully on September 20th, 2024 at the age of 99.

Marguerite was born in Emanuel County, Ga on June 3, 1925 to John H. and Annie B. Sherrod. She grew up on the family farm with her sister, three brothers and many cousins. Thus, was born her steadfast devotion to God, church and her family. She was an active, long-time member of Crawford Avenue Baptist Church. Marguerite was a loving mother and put her children and family before all other concerns. We were blessed to have learned many valuable life lessons from our strong willed, loving, tenacious and independent mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Her life was a celebration of faith, family and love and for that legacy we have been immeasurably blessed.

Marguerite moved to Augusta in 1950 and retired from Lily Cup Company after 38 years of employment. She traveled the world for many years with her Senior Friends group. She had a remarkable memory and was always willing to share about her life and places of travel. Marguerite was a true Southern Lady that stayed active until her death. Over the years her tenacity served her well.

She was preceded in death by second husband, Joseph L. Rollins; first husband, Willie R. Stevens; her daughter in law, Debbie D. Stevens; her granddaughter, Amanda Stevens van der Linden, her sister, Annie Mae Johnson; her brothers, Willie B. Sherrod, Lawrence L. Sherrod, John Edward Sherrod.

She will be lovingly missed and is survived and by her son, Johnny R. Stevens, (Hephzibah); daughter, Angie Mohney and her husband Bob (Knoxville, Tn.); granddaughters, Wendy M. Fiser and her husband David, Jennifer S. Hale and her husband Sam; grandson in law, Mark van der Linden, six great grandchildren Bo Fiser, Chase Fiser, Elizabeth Hale, Ben Hale, Banks van der Linden, Knox van der Linden and countless nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at Westover Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Union Grove Methodist Church, P. O. Box 345, Midville, Ga. 30441.
