Margie Cushman Powell

Mrs. Margie Cushman Powell, 89, beloved wife of the late Robert Powell entered into rest on January 2, 2022.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 7, 2022 at Platt’s Belair Road Chapel with the Rev. Dr. J. Andrew Menger officiating. Interment to follow at Westover Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Mrs. Powell was a longtime member of Christ Episcopal Church and served in the soup kitchen and food pantry there for 13 years. She also served as an American Red Cross volunteer for 32 years at Eisenhower Army Medical Center and was recognized with the Clara Barton Award for her years of service. Mrs. Powell was also active on various committees at Brandon Wilde.

Mrs. Powell is survived by her nieces, Debbie Thurmond and Imogene Ford; and by her nephews, Brooks Thurmond, Tracy Thurmond and Rob Suk. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Powell was preceded in death by her son, Carlton Cushman Powell; and by her sisters, Vivien Cushman Thurmond and Shirley Cushman Teague.
