Major Calvin "Steve" Estese Morris, Jr.

Major Calvin "Steve" Estese Morris Jr. of Appling, Georgia entered into eternal rest on April 30,2026 at his residence. He was born in Augusta, Georgia on October 25, 1963 and he was a native of Harlem, Georgia. Steve is the son of the late Frances Morris and Calvin Estese Morris Sr.

He graduated in 1981 from Harlem High School and continued his education at Georgia Military College. At the time of his death he was employed with the Columbia County Sheriff's Department serving as Major. He was married on August 17, 1985 to the Love of his life Penney W. Morris who survives. He was affectionately known by his beloved Grandchildren as "PawPaw”. He enjoyed watching them on the sidelines playing sports and was always cheering them on. At other times Steve enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves. He always enjoyed grilling and feeding those he loved. But most of all,helping others in need with nothing in return. He is preceded in death by his parents. He is a member of Kiokee Baptist Church and currently attended Abilene Baptist Church with his family. Survivors include his beloved wife, Mrs. Penney W. Morris. His son Calvin "Cal" E. Morris III (Janelle). His daughter Anna Partridge (Christopher). His grandchildren, Levi Morris, Luke Morris, Lane Morris, Brady Partridge, and Dawson Partridge. He also loved his Yorkie "Stella."

Memorial services for Major Morris will be conducted on Wednesday May 6, 2026, at 3pm at Abilene Baptist Church with Pastor Brad Whitt officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2 p.m. until the service hour at the church. All local law enforcement agencies along with Columbia County Sheriff's officials will serve as honorary pallbearers and should assemble at the church on Wednesday by 2:30p.m.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Steve’s memory be made to the Abilene Baptist Church Children's Ministry at 3917 Washington Road, Martinez, GA 30907. Arrangements are being provided by Platt's Funeral Home, 337 N. Belair Road, Evans, GA 30809 (706)860-6166.
