Mabel Lee Finley

January 11, 1930 — June 22, 2025

Evans

Ms. Mabel Lee Goudy Jolly Finley entered into rest on Sunday, June 22, 2025 at Doctors Hospital of Augusta.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church of Augusta with the Rev. Ken McHeard and Rev. John Barrett officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Westover Memorial Park.

Mabel was one of eleven children born on January 11, 1930, to Ed and Annie Mae Goudy in Mount Hebron, Alabama. She lived in Michigan for many years where she worked as a childcare specialist for the Wayne County Child Development Center. In 2001, she moved to Evans, Georgia to be nearer to her daughter, Laurie Jolly, and granddaughter, Chazz Jordan.

She was a much-loved member of First Presbyterian Church of Augusta and had been active in the church for 23 years. She was known as “Granny” or “Ms. Mabel” by all and for her love of rocking and caring for babies in the nursery, some of whom are now in their late teens and early 20s. Gardening was a large passion of hers as she tended to several gardens including an Iris garden, a tropical garden, a vegetable garden, a fruit garden, and a giant banana tree that she acquired many years ago. She also enjoyed sewing, cooking, and baking. She’ll be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She leaves behind her children, Gregory Jolly, Samuel B. Jolly and wife, Dr. Janice Ridley Jolly, and Dr. Laurie Denise Jolly, her grandchildren, Megan Jolly, Gregory Jolly Jr., Ashley Jolan Jolly, Terrell Jesse Jolly and wife, Krystal Jolly, and Chazz Michelle Jordan, and her great grandchildren, Tyson Jolly, Taylor Jolly, Madison Cheatham, Xavier Jolly and Uriah Jolly. She is also survived by her sisters, Emma Goudy and Bertha Goudy Robinson and husband Willie Robinson, and her brothers, Nathaniel Goudy, William Goudy and Norris Goudy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Annie Mae Goudy, and her siblings, Eddie James Goudy, Mack Goudy, Clyde Goudy, Doris Goudy, and Albert Goudy.

While we will miss Granny, we can rest easy knowing that she is with family and loved ones and moving freely and without pain.

If so desired, memorials may be made to the Children’s Ministry at First Presbyterian Church of Augusta.

Please leave condolences in the online guestbook.
