Lucy Barnard Bard

Lucy Irene Barnard Bard left this world on May 24, 2025 at her home in North Augusta, SC after an extended illness. Lucy was born in Augusta, GA on August 3, 1955. She was the daughter of D. Douglas Barnard,Jr. and Naomi (Nopi) Holt Barnard. Lucy graduated high school from Augusta Preparatory School in 1973. She attended college at Queens College, University of Georgia, and received a Nursing Degree from Augusta College. She was employed by University Hospital, Emory University Hospital, and Everest Community College in Phoenix, AZ. She was raised in the Christian faith at First Baptist Church in Augusta, GA and in 2007 she converted to Catholicism and was confirmed at St. Jerome Church in Phoenix, AZ. 

She is survived by her sister, Pamela B. Chafee (H. Campbell Chafee), her brother D. Douglas Barnard, III (Nancy), her Ex-husband James W. Bard, her two sons Peter Douglas Bard and Geoffrey Scott Bard (Christiane Leigh), and her granddaughters Bethany Bard and Emileigh Bard. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Druie Douglas Barnard Sr., Lucy Burns Barnard, Robert Lee Holt and Irene Tippett Holt. 

A graveside memorial service will be held at Westover Memorial Park on Saturday, August 9 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Catholic Social Services.
