Lucile L. Flowers entered eternal rest August 21, 2026, in Augusta, GA

Lucile was born on April 19, 1934 in Atlanta, Georgia to Nazare and Catherine Jackson.

Lucile graduated from Ballard - Hudson High School in June 1952 as the Valedictorian at the top of her class in June 1952.

Lucile worked as a Public Utilities Manager for `PSE&G for thirty years (1979-2009). She served in the U.S. Army from 10 October 1952 through 31 December 1953 and received an Honorable Discharge. She was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Her last duty assignment was with Headquarters, Special Troop Command, Ft Benning, Georgia.

She was a member of the Evangelism Outreach Ministries team and lead a Sunday School Class at the Macedonia Baptist Church, Beverly, NJ.

Lucile received the Advanced Church Ministries Training Certificate from the Advanced Church Ministries Program from Manna Bible Institute. She also received her 4 year degree from the Manna Bible Institute, Night School, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, all on May 25, 1990.

She was a gifted seamstress who found joy in creating beautiful things with her hands. An avid reader, who could often be found lost in the pages of a good book , always enjoying opportunities to learn and explore new stories. She also had a genuine love for cooking and took pleasure in preparing meals for her family and others.

Lucile is preceded in death by her parents Nazare and Catherine Jackson, her late husband Lee Jack Flowers.

Lucile is survived by her daughter Gwen Winston, son Lee Flowers, daughter in law Wanda Coates Flowers, grandchildren Allen Northington , Monique Adams, Andrea Flowers, Stephan Adams, Julian Coates, . Great grandchildren Alexus Northington, Fiona Adams, Cooper and Cannon Coates. Siblings Andrew Jackson, Dorothy Haynes, Christine Harper, Lillian Austen, Josephine Gray, Betty Tripp, Catherine Woolfolk, Margaret Ward, Edna Walker, Lenos Jackson (deceased), and Odessa Hayes (deceased).

Lucile raised her son, daughter, and grandson over a period spanning five decades (1954 thru 1974) and her grandson (1974 thru 1992). She was truly a loving and caring mother and grandmother raising children over two generations, while working a full time job to support her family, supporting her husband during his military career, and attending college while raising her grandson.

Now with her Heavenly Father , Absent from the body present with the Lord. She will forever be remembered for her will to be an example of service, ministry, faith & giving of herself, time, effort & energy into others. May her legacy continue to live on in the hearts of all those she touched.

The Flowers family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the doctors, and support staff from Doctors Hospital, Augusta, Georgia. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at Platt’s Funeral Home in Evans, Georgia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM at Fort Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia, South Carolina.
