Lisa Simons, 65, entered eternal rest on May 19, 2026. Born on September 21, 1960, Lisa lived a life rooted in faith, family, kindness, and love for others. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, creativity, and devotion that touched countless lives.
Lisa was the beloved wife of Duane Simons and a devoted mother to her daughters, Megan Furno (PJ) and Annaelise Wilson (Chris). Her greatest joy in life was being “Mimi” to her treasured grandchildren: Hayden Wilson, Cruz Wilson, Jocelyn Furno, Eli Wilson, Elena Wilson, and Asher Furno. Though they were her pride and joy, the name “Mimi” extended far beyond her family, as many in the Riverwood community affectionately came to know and love her by that name.
She is also survived by her mother, Patty McCormack; her stepmother, Jan McCormack; her brothers, Patrick McCormack (Traci) and Scott McCormack (Michelle); her brother-in-law, Don Simons (Carol); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends whom she loved deeply. She was preceded in death by her father, Neil McCormack, her father-in-law and mother-in-law Jim and Albina Simons, brother-in-law Jim Simons and cousins Karen Tribbett and Brent McCormack.
Lisa believed wholeheartedly that family was not defined solely by blood, but by love, loyalty, and connection. Throughout her life, she welcomed countless others into her heart as adopted family, making everyone around her feel seen, valued, and loved.
A gifted independent artist and owner of Reflections Candles by Lisa, she shared beauty and creativity with those around her through her work. Lisa also had a deep love for gardening. As a Master Gardener and proud member of the “Soil Sisters” gardening club, she found joy and peace in helping things grow and bloom.
Her Catholic faith was the foundation of her life. As a catechist at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, Lisa faithfully taught generations of children, including her own daughters and grandchildren, about God’s love and the importance of faith. She lived her beliefs daily through compassion, service, and generosity.
Lisa also served as an usher at the Columbia County Performing Arts Center, where her welcoming smile and kind spirit greeted so many who walked through the doors.
Lisa will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her servant’s heart, her artistic spirit, and the way she made others feel loved and accepted. Her memory will continue to live on in the gardens she nurtured, the candles she created, the lessons she taught, and most importantly, in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
