Lewana Lou Barefield

Augusta, GA – Mrs. Lewana Lou Barefield entered into eternal rest on December 22, 2013 after a courageous battle against illness.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 26, 2013 at National Hills Baptist Church with Dr. Kevin Steele officiating.

Lewana was a loving and caring wife and mother, always providing a warm home for her family. She was born in Reidsville, NC, on October 21, 1935 to parents Viola and John London.

Lewana is survived by her husband of 59 years, Franklin R. Barefield, Sr.; sons, Franklin R. Barefield, Jr. and wife Renee J. Strunk of Augusta and Christopher C. Barefield and wife Irma L. Gloria of Houston, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Her career spanned several states, companies, and projects, as she followed her husband to various projects across the country. At every location, she ensured that her two young sons had joyful lives. She was a staunch advocate for the needs of her visually impaired son.
