Mrs. Lenora King Brown, beloved wife of the late Floyd “Let” Brown, entered into rest on Wednesday, March 20, 2024.
Lenora was born in Augusta in 1942 to C.E. “Pete” and Mattie King. In 1960, she graduated from Aquinas High School and went on to earn a degree at the MCG School of Radiology. She worked for the Columbia County Board of Education, first as a para pro and then as a school administrative assistant, at Belair and Euchee Creek Elementary.
She enjoyed bingo and going “junking”, often discovering impressive finds in her thrift store shopping. Her family was impressed with her creative spirit and ability to produce beautiful and useful items out of throw away items and things that other people would consider trash. Evenings at the movies with her grandson was a favorite pastime, and she enjoyed nature shows, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. She was also an avid reader, who was formerly active in the Red Hat community.
Lenora was dearly loved by her family and friends and became a second mother to many people. She was an excellent listener and a friend to any in need. She was a member of the Bahai faith.
She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Leah and Frank Murphy, a grandson, Nicholas Murphy and many extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Mattie and her stepmother, Juanita “Nita” King.
The family would like to thank the staff and residents of Washington Commons, Encompass Home Health, the Enhabit Hospice team, the staff at Brentwood Nursing Home and the staff of Right At Home Caregivers, for the love and care shown to Lenora throughout her illness.
If so desired, memorials may be made to Enhabit Hospice at www.encompasscares.org, the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org or to the CSRA Humane Society, 425 Wood St, Augusta, GA 30904
Please leave condolences in the online guestbook.
