MARTINEZ, GA - Larry Eugene Rogers, age 80, beloved husband of Lois Hayes Rogers departed this life for his heavenly home on January 18, 2026, at the Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home in Augusta, GA.
The family will receive friends at 12 p.m. with funeral services following at 1 pm, on Friday, January 23, 2026 at Trinity Baptist Church, 4594 Columbia Road, Martinez, GA, with Pastor Matt Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Harlem Memorial Cemetery.
Larry was born Oct 7, 1945 in Ozark, AL to Verma Tharpe Rogers and Allen Rogers. He attended Dale County High School, Ozark, AL and joined the Army Reserves at the age of 17. He served his county in the US Army Reserves and Regular Army, where he served at the Pentagon, Wash, DC, Ft Richie, MD and Korea during the Viet Nam era. Following active duty, he served 8 years with the US Civil Service in Pennsylvania and Fort Gordon. He relocated to Martinez, GA in 1985 and was employed with Pan Am World Services as a high voltage electrical lineman and later as a housing maintenance technician with Johnson Controls.
Larry was a long-time member of Trinity Baptist Church in Martinez, GA and a long-time member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He loved spending time with, and spoiling his fur babies, Precious and Lindsey.
He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Lois Hayes Rogers of Martinez, a sister Barbara Daniels, Ozark, AL, his daughter Michelle Smith of Ozark, AL, as well as 2 grandsons, Matthew Mauldin of Florida and Jayden Smith of Ozark, AL. and 3 great grandchildren of Florida, and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Larry also leaves behind two brothers-in-law, Johnny Hayes, Hephzibah Ga and Don Smith, Harlem, GA. He was preceded in death by his Father, Allen Rogers, his Mother Velma Rogers Dickerson, and an infant son Larry Ashley Rogers all of Ozark, AL.
Pallbearers will be John Hayes, Don Smith, Richard Downs, Greg Slagle, Tony Moyer, and James Theissen. Honorary Pall Bearers will be members of the adult Sunday school class of Trinity Baptist Church.
