Listen to Obituary

Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Kathleen Rose Hickman of Evans, Georgia, passed away peacefully in her home on October 30, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on January 9,1944 in Chicago, Illinois, Kathy lived a life defined by service, devotion, and love. She proudly served her country in the military at a time when few women walked that path, and she carried the values of resilience, discipline, and independence with her throughout her life. Following her 20 years of military service, she dedicated herself to nursing at the Medical College of Georgia, offering not only skill but also compassion and tenderness to those in her care.

Kathy was also a self-sufficient and meticulous woman who poured her heart into every task she undertook.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, she was an artist with a creative spirit, finding joy in expressing herself through her work and imagination.

Her greatest devotion, however, was to her family. As a loving mother and doting grandmother, Kathy cherished every moment with her children and grandchildren. She delighted in their milestones, supported them in times of challenge, and celebrated their joys as if they were her own. To her friends, she was a loyal and beloved companion, and to all who knew her, she was a source of optimism and strength.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Richard Norman, her children Thomas "Jeff" Hickman 3" (Amber), Kristin "Krissy" Munoz (Alex). She is also survived by her siblings, John P Kane Jr (Dara), Thomas "Tommy" Kane, Mary Richardson, and James "Jimmy" Kane (Lupe). Kathy had several grandchildren as well as step children and step grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents John P and Lorraine (Cholke) Kane, and her elder brother, Charles "Charley" Kane (Denise).

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Kathleen's honor to Wounded Warrior Project.

The family with receive friends on Sunday, November 9, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Platt’s Funeral Home on Belair Road.
