Joyce May O'Neal

Augusta,GA.- Mrs. Joyce May O’Neal age 77, wife of the late Augustus Briscoe O’Neal Jr. entered into rest at Heartland Hospice on Tuesday, July 21, 2009.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at Platts Belair Road Chapel at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Joey Vinson and Dr. Kevin J. Steele officiating. Interment to follow at Abilene Baptist Church Cemetery.

Survivors include, two sons, Augustus Briscoe O’Neal III, Barry Eugene O’Neal and his wife Lu, one daughter, Pamela O’Neal Backus and her husband Bill. Sisters, June May Rosier, Cathy May Kell. Seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Mrs. O’Neal was preceded in death by one sister, Sharon May Cagle.

Joyce graduated from Tubman High School in 1949, she was a lifelong resident of Columbia County and a member of Abilene Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be missed by her family and friends.

Pallbearers will be, Charlie Rhoades, Jimmy Rhoades, Alvin Dickson, Paul Carter, Jordan Rhoades, Charlie Mongold.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, July 24, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
