Joyce P. James, 83, of Evans, Georgia passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at home.
Joyce was born in Marietta, Georgia to Grady and Nellie Pence on November 5, 1938. She grew up in a loving and faithful family. She graduated from Marietta High School and two years later married Lawton James. They began their 63- year journey together that took them to many destinations around the world.
Joyce was a homemaker and caregiver to many. She excelled in decorating, sewing, cooking, and making everyone feel welcomed and loved.
Joyce is survived by her husband Lawton James, her children Vicki Johnson (Tim), Anita Blackmon, and Lana Loveland (Eric); her grandchildren Emily Davenport (Nick), Ehrin Fairey (Caleb), Landon Johnson, Hannah O'Hagan (Ryan), Hilary Hopkins, Trent Johnson, Mikaela Hopkins, and Olivia Blackmon; and her great-grandchildren Asher, Rowyn, Maisie, Jane, and Maddy. Survivors also include her sister Gail Crews (Ray), sister-in-law Ollie James, and nieces Tonya Towhey and Karen King.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Grady and Nellie Pence, brother Grady, father and mother-in-law Lawton and Marie James, and brother-in-law Eddie James.
In keeping with Joyce's altruistic spirit, memorials may be made to your favorite charity.
Joyce's family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff of Regency Hospice.
Visitation will be at 2:00 Friday, May 27th at Platt's Funeral Home on North Belair Road. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 in the Platt's Chapel with Reverend Keith Bartlett officiating.
