LT Col. Joseph Neal Miciotto (US Army Ret), 99, entered into rest on Saturday, August 11, 2024 at Piedmont Augusta Hospital.
The family will receive friends at Platts Funeral Home Belair Road on Friday, August 16, 2024 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Services will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
Joe was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on October 24, 1924, to Sam Miciotto and the former Mary Elizabeth Maryman. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Floy Hicks Miciotto and his son, Rusty Neal Miciotto.
He joined the army and served honorably for 27 years. During his time in the military, he saw action in three separate conflicts: World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He retired in 1970 as a Lt. Colonel, and then retired from Life of Georgia Insurance Company in 1989. Joe was also a graduate of Louisiana State University and a 32nd degree Scottish Rite. He loved fast cars. Joe lived a very active lifestyle, he enjoyed playing golf and stayed active in the gym all the way up until COVID.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Valerie Gunter Miciotto, his grandchildren; Michelle Miciotto, Scotty Miciotto and Josh Miciotto, his mother-in-law, Eva Jean Gunter, and 8 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind a dear friend, Leonard Moxley, and bonus children, Robert and Debra Wolfe.
