John Richard Ricky Newman

Martinez, GA---Mr. John Richard “Ricky” Newman, 61, entered into rest on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 8, 2014 in the Platt’s Belair Road Chapel with Rev. Roger Bennett officiating. A private family interment will be held at a later date.
Mr. Newman was a native of Augusta, Georgia. He retired as Maintenance Supervisor, at Quebecor, following 30 years of service. He was avid outdoorsman, loved hunting, fishing and playing golf. Mr. Newman was quick to share, that the greatest accomplishment, in his life, was his children.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Powell Newman.
Survivors include, his son, Jonathan R. Newman (Julie M.), daughter, Andrea Newman Borden (Rich), all of Evans, GA, father, John Melton Newman of Augusta, GA, sisters, Cheryl Newman Polatty (Bill) of Evans, GA, Lisa D. Newman of Martinez, GA, grandchildren, Elizabeth L. “Ellie” Borden, Margaret G. “Maggie” Borden and Hammond R. Newman, niece, Carlene Polatty Gaskins (Andrew), nephew, William Bothwell Polatty and his loyal and faithful companion, Brutus, his dog.
The family wishes to express their gratitude, to the Emory University Hospital Transplant Team, for the care given to Mr. Newman.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 8, 2014, at Platt’s Belair Road.
