JoAnn Theissen Bugg, best known as "Granna," passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026, in Augusta, Georgia. Born on April 9, 1947, JoAnn was a dedicated Granna to all in her profession. She spent much of her career in medical administration, primarily serving as a surgical coordinator at the Augusta Orthopedic Clinic. Her hard work and commitment to helping others have left a mark on those who had the privilege of knowing her.
A loving, powerful, and independent individual who was a member of Liberty Methodist Church, JoAnn lived her life with a profoundly giving spirit. Her affection was evident through her cooking and her eagerness to assist others, for which she was well known. Everyone around her felt this nurturing quality as she opened her heart to all.
JoAnn is survived by her beloved daughter, Kim (Johnny) Stratton, and her significant other, Paul Rodgers. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Ryan (Shelby) Stratton, Rhett (Bethany) Stratton, Russell Stratton, and Coty (Lauren) Albert, as well as her great-grandchildren, Caden, Caroline, Charlie, Will, John Michael, Amelia, Annaleigh, and Margot. They will always cherish the love, guidance, and warmth she provided throughout their lives.
JoAnn was predeceased by her mother, Jean Devitt (affectionately known as Gaga), her father, Werner Theissen, and her daughter, Shannon Theissen.
Visitation services will be held on January 12, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Platt's Funeral Home in Evans, Georgia.
A funeral service will follow on January 13, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Liberty Methodist Church in Hephzibah, Georgia.
JoAnn Theissen Bugg's kind spirit and relentless dedication to her family and community will be missed but remembered fondly by all who knew and loved her.
