Sgt. Jason Edward Fish was born on August 27, 1963, in Jacksonville, Florida. Jason entered into eternal rest on March 23, 2020 (56 years old). He was a graduate of North Charleston High School, Class of 1982. On Valentine's Day of that same year, he met the love of his life, Karen Lynn Pye Fish. He and Karen were married on December 19, 1982, and have enjoyed 37 years of wedded bliss. Their union was blessed with three children: Jessica Lorraine (Fish) Newman, Justin Edward Fish (Melissa Fish, wife), Kyle Anthony Fish (Amanda Johnson, fiancee). Jason is also the loving "Poppa" of five grandchildren: William Paul Newman, Jackson Edward Fish, Jillian Michelle Newman, Maximus Douglas Fish and Madalynn Star Fish. A sixth grandchild is on the way, due on August 27, 2020, Poppa's birthday.
In 1982, Jason joined the United States Marine Corps and upon graduation from Boot Camp, he was stationed at Camp LeJeune, North Carolina and later stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He served in the Corps for five years and received an honorable discharge for time served. Forever a Marine at heart. Oorah!
Shortly after he completed his service in the Marine Corps, Jason was employed with Wackenhut at Savannah River Site. He became a member of the Special Response Team at Savannah River Site where he achieved the rank of Sergeant. Jason was a model employee and was loved and revered by his supervisors and coworkers alike. He also was a member of the Composite Adversary Team (CAT) for several years.
Jason's passion was golf. He spent countless hours at Pointe South Golf Club, always competing with his friends and himself for the best round.
Jason worked hard his entire life and was completely and deeply devoted to his wife, children, grandchildren, family and friends. If ever we needed anything, we knew where to turn.
His beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives and memories of his wife, children, grandchildren, family and friends. We will love and miss you forever, Poppa!
