Mr. James Perrin Young Jr., of Augusta, Georgia, passed away on May 3, 2026 in Grovetown.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at Platts Funeral Home on Belair Road. Military honors will be rendered at the funeral home at 7:00.
James, a native of Augusta, was born on December 7, 1946 to James and Doris Young. Shortly after graduating from the Academy of Richmond County, he joined the United States Army, beginning a distinguished career that lasted two decades. He served with honor during the Vietnam Conflict and earned several medals and commendations including the National Defense Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/Palm, the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/60 Device, the Army Good Conduct Medal and the Army Commendation Medal. He retired from the Army after many years of commitment and sacrifice.
He is survived by his wife, Ok Chu, his children, Suzanne Nabahe, Sharon Seagroves (Will), and Chris Nabahe (Lisa), his siblings, Terry, Raymond, and Joann, and his grandchildren, Devon Anderson, Dalton Anderson, Lily Nabahe, Emma Nabahe, and Christopher Nabahe, Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Doris Young, his son, James P. Young III, and his daughter, Patricia Ann.
The Young family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Trinity Hospice, Nurse Linz Fain, Social worker Heather Horn, Chaplain Mark Abbott, Nurses Aide Nicole Irving, also the VA Hospital, and his close family and friends.If so desired, memorials may be made to the Augusta Korean Methodist Church, 2641 Barton Chapel Road, Augusta, Georgia, 30906.
