James Scott Harpole

Mr. James Scott Harpole, beloved husband of 45 years of Susan Bennett Harpole, entered into rest on Friday, October 2, 2026, at his residence.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 PM on Sunday, October 11, 2026, in the Crawford Avenue Chapel of Platts Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Jimmy was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma in 1954. He lived with his parents, Joseph and Frances Harpole in Inverness, Mississippi for several years before Joe transferred to Augusta. Jimmy attended Augusta Christian. After finishing school, he started his own business called Superior Steam, which he owned for several years. He later went to work as a purchasing agent for several industrial manufacturing plants, before retiring from Bearing Distributors in Grovetown.

Even though his family moved from Mississippi when Jimmy was a teen, he never lost his love for the Ole Miss Rebels. He was a devoted Rebels fan and could always be counted on to cheer for the Rebels through the wins, the losses, and the games that tested every ounce of his patience. He also enjoyed music and could often be found strumming a few chords on his guitar for his much-loved dogs, Bennett and Mocha.

In addition to his wife, Susan, he is survived by two daughters, Lauren Hayward (Keith) and Amanda Bartley (Keith), his grandchildren, Kathryn, Savanna, Logan, Kaden and Gunner, and his cousins, Lee Beckham (Denise), Barbie King, Frankie Hall (Rick) and Will Beckham (Traci).
