Homer Lee Evans

Homer Lee Evans “Buddy”, aged 84, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022 in Martinez.
Homer was born in Trion, Chattooga County, Georgia to Harlin and Eva Evans on December 4, 1937. He went to Trion High School. He married Lieu Evans on March 10, 1973 after bringing her back from Vietnam. He graduated from Phillips College with a degree in Computer Science.
He worked as a security officer for Fort Gordon for 10 years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the US Army Signal Corps and was awarded the Bronze star.
His hobbies included collecting firearms and hunting. He loved history, science, and his beloved North Georgia mountains.
Homer is preceded in death by his father Harlin Evans, his mother Eva Evans, his brother Robert A Evans, his sisters Glenis Miller, Ruth Henley, Mattie Von Horn, Sue Bearden.
He is survived by his wife Lieu Thi Evans, his son Ty D. Evans (Holly), his daughters Lisa Ann Jones and Diane Lee Gottschalk, sons in law Michael Jones and David Gottschalk, grandchildren Christopher E. Pitt, Isabelle G. Jones, and Annalise F. Jones. He has two surviving sisters, Joann Anderson and Faye Nell Byrd, sister-in-law, Francis Evans.

Funeral services will be held 4:00 pm on Friday, August 26, 2022 at Platt’s Funeral Home, Belair Chapel with Chaplin Rick Boland officiating with military honors.
