Grovetown, GA- Mr. Henry M. Wilson Sr. age 85, husband of Mrs. Mary Ann Daniels Wilson entered into rest at his residence on Wednesday, December 16, 2009.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at West Acres Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Larry Harmon officiating.
Additional survivors include, daughters, Dianna Simmons James and husband Walt, Susan Pitts and husband Tim, and Connie Franks. One son, Henry M. Wilson Jr. and wife Rebecca. Grandchildren, Trey Simmons, Katie Simmons Duncan and husband Matthew James Duncan, Lee Wilson, Hilary Wilson, Emily Wilson, Jim Wilson and wife, Wendy, Laura Franks Dell and husband Thomas, Daniel Franks, and six great grandchildren.
Mr. Wilson retired from Southern Bell after 40 years of service, he was an active and loyal member of West Acres Baptist Church serving on the board of trustees for many years, he served as an usher on Sunday mornings. He was previously a Sunday School Teacher of teen boys at First Baptist Church of Augusta. Henry served in the U.S. Naval Air Force during WW II. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, and gardener. He was a Scout Master of the Boy Scout Troop # 13. He volunteered for 18 years at St. Johns Towers as a driver, and was nominated Volunteer of the Year for several years. The residents fished at his home every year. He enjoyed helping friends and family, he had a wonderful sense of humor and will be missed by family and friends.
