Hemraj Maharaj

Mr. Hemraj Maharaj, beloved husband of 37 years of Omatie, entered into rest on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at Doctors Hospital of Augusta.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 15, 2024, from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at Platt’s Funeral Home on Belair Road.

Hemraj was born to Seemungal Maharaj and Hamina Gulab in Trinidad in 1957. He married the former Omatie Samaroo in 1987 and moved to the United States. They started a family, and he began his career as a construction contractor.

He was a fan of cricket and horse racing and was an All-Fours card champion. He will be remembered as a prankster and jokester, but his lasting legacy will be his love for his family as a devoted husband, father and brother.

In addition to his wife, Omatie, he is survived by his children, Keisha Maharaj and Sasha Maharaj.

If so desired, memorials may be made in his honor to St. Jude Hospital for Children.
