Geraldine Robison Davis (Gerry) entered into rest on April 28, 2021 in Augusta, GA. Gerry was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne D. and Elva Robinson of Morgantown. West Virginia, her former husband, H. W. Gosney of West Virginia, her son, James W. Gosney, of Clarksville, TN and by her late husband, James E. Davis of Augusta, GA.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 1:00 pm with Reverend Robert Hunt and Reverend Nadine Ellsworth-Moran officiating. Prior to the service, there will be a private burial.
Gerry was born in Morgantown, West Virginia to Wayne D. and Elva Craig Robison. She graduated from high school in Morgantown. She also attended West Virginia University before moving to Augusta in 1953.
Following the death of her former husband, Gerry worked in the law offices of Congden, Holley, and Williams. She later became the first Director of Volunteers at University Hospital, a position she held until 1971. Formerly a member of Trinity on the Hill Methodist Church, she was the first female member of the Board of Stewards there. She was an active P.T.A. member and Cub Scout Den Mother while her children were in school.
After her marriage to Jim Davis in 1971, she joined Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church, Augusta, GA and became active in the life of that congregation. She was Chair of the Wedding Committee for several years, as well as President to the Prime Timers group of seniors at the Church. With her husband Jim, she was a two-term member of the Board of Visitors for Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC. Gerry was a charter member of the Augusta chapter of P. E. O. and had recently received her 50-year pin.
Survivors include her son, H. W. Gosney, Jr., and wife Harriet of Gastonia, NC, three grandchildren, Christopher Gosney of Charlotte, NC, Scott Gosney (Holly) of New Smyrna Beach FL, and Wesley Gosney (Anna) of Fort Mill, SC. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Jenny, Parrish, Madeline, and Davis Gosney.
A special thank you goes to Vanessa Robinson who was Gerry’s long time caregiver and to all the staff at Benton House who were so caring and attentive for the past 6 years, especially during the pandemic. Also thank you to Gerry’s church family and friends for the many kindnesses shown to her through the years.
