George E. Tuten, 80, of Evans, GA passed away peacefully Sunday, June 8, 2025 surrounded by loved ones after a long battle with dementia.

George was an active member of Warren Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and volunteered in many other areas of the church. Outside of working for 38 years for CSX Transportation, he loved working in his yard, building furniture in his workshop and doing carpentry for others. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving on the USS Forrestal during the Vietnam War.

George is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Ruth Anne Tuten; a son, Robert E. “Robbie” Tuten; and daughters, Tara Longmire (Matt) and Jeanna Martin (Zac); four grandchildren, Michael, Ellie, Landon and Kara Martin; one sister, Cathy Keane (Don Tyre); two brothers, James E. O. Tuten (Virginia) and G. Ray Tuten (Carol); sister-in-law, Patricia Tuten; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, James B. Tuten; his mother, Ethel H. Tuten; and his brother, William P. “Billy” Tuten.

The family will receive friends at Platt’s Funeral Home on Belair Road from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, June 11, 2025.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at Warren Baptist Church Chapel, conducted by Dr. David McKinley and Rev. Lane Lowery. Burial will be at Bellevue Memorial Gardens.
