Geddes Fredrick Hernlen, Jr., 89, beloved husband of the late Margaret Pangborn Hernlen, entered into rest on May 23, 2023.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 26, 2023 at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church with Rev. Chris Hassel serving as celebrant. Interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. Hernlen is survived by his children, Mark Hernlen, Kitty Hernlen, John Hernlen (Karen) and Karen Hernlen; grandchildren, Britton Hernlen (Sharissa) and Taylor Fuller (Nick); and great-grandchildren, Brinley, Lilli and Isoholde Hernlen and Adalyn, Paisley and Harper Fuller.
Mr. Hernlen graduated from the Academy of Richmond County. He worked as a mechanic with Wirtz and Hernlen Farm Machinery and then with Augusta Precast. Mr. Hernlen worked until his retirement with Hernlen Transport. He was a former parishioner and usher at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Mr. Hernlen loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
The family will receive friends at Platt’s Crawford Avenue Chapel on Thursday evening, May 25, 2023 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
