Frances Farr Scott

Augusta, GA - Frances was born on February 20, 1920 in Fairview, Georgia and died on July 16, 2013. She was the daughter of the late Dr. Jesse R. Farr and Alexa Vaughn Farr. Her husband of over forty years, Lloyd S. Scott, also predeceased her.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, July 19, 2013 in Westover Memorial Park with Rev. Ron Jones officiating.

Frances was very active in the Hill Baptist Church as well as the Augusta Junior Women’s Club as a past president, Country Hills Garden Club and Pink Ladies at St. Joseph Hospital. She was a former member of the Augusta Country Club where she enjoyed playing bridge and other activities.

In addition to her volunteer work, Frances was a well-known caterer of weddings and other events. She also worked at the Augusta Library, including on the bookmobile. As a lover of books and of people, this was a perfect fit for Frances. She was also well-known for her hats and always being perfectly appointed, including wearing earrings to match every occasion or event.

She is survived by her four daughters, Shannon S. Butler (and her husband John A. Butler), Cary S. Maxwell, Dale V. Scott (and her fiancée Jake Marbach) and Lynn S. Scott; five grandchildren, S. Russell Floyd, Jenny F. Owen, Frances S. Maxwell, Laura M. Hollingsworth and Scott D. Magruder; seven great-grandchildren, Evan Floyd, Collin Floyd, Carson Floyd, William Hollingsworth IV, Ann-Maxwell Hollingsworth, Alexa Owen and Jake Owen.

Pallbearers will be Russell Floyd, Scott Magruder, Trevor Owen and William Hollingsworth III.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday morning, July 19, 2013 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
