Floyd Edward Strickland, 84, of Martinez Georgia, passed away on September 5th, 2025 in his home surrounded by the love of his family.

Floyd was born in Augusta, Georgia to Willie and Mamie Strickland on May 4th, 1941. He attended Richmond County High School, where he received his education. He met the love of his life, Melvis Hyatt Strickland, at Avers Meat Package while working together. They were married for 59 years before her passing in 2023.

He worked as a General Supervisor for Hamburg Industries Inc. from 1968 until he retired in 2001. He was a member of LifePoint Christian Church.

Floyd was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who was devoted to his family and his faith. His love for Jesus guided his way of life. He had a green thumb, growing all sorts of vegetables in his garden. He was also a handyman, ready to fix or lend a helping hand when needed. He was always happiest when surrounded by loved ones, which his love for them will carry on for generations.

Floyd is preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Mamie Strickland, his wife, Melvis Hyatt Strickland, his son, Anthony Todd Strickland, his grandson, Joshua Ryan Birong, and his brothers, Joseph Strickalnd and Gene Strickland.

Floyd is survived by his son, Paul Strickland, his daughters, Janet Costello and Teresa (Shawn) Birong, his brother, Ronnie (Brenda) Strickland, his granddaughters, Brittany (Cory) Jacobs, Courtney Costello, Summer Costello, and Taylor (Walker) Johnson, and his great-grandchildren, Kensley Jacobs, Bentley Jacobs, Brooks Johnson, Kolson Costello, and Wren Johnson.

Pallbearers will be Matt Strickland, Walker Johnson, Mark Clark, Steve Rheaume, Will Fulmer, and Jimmy Gagnon.

The family of Floyd wishes to extend our sincere thanks to minister Barry Clanton of LifePoint Christian Church and the staff of Georgia Hospice Care.

Visitation will be on Tuesday September 9th 2025 at 10:00 am at Platt’s Funeral Home located at 337 N Belair Rd Evans, GA 30809.

Funeral services will be held following visitation on Tuesday September 9th 2025 at 11:00 am at Platt’s Funeral Home with the minister Barry Clanton, of LifePoint Christian Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Platt’s Funeral Home.
