Frances Faye Hagan Pirkle (Faye), 84, of Augusta, GA, passed away on December 22, 2022 in Augusta, GA.
Faye was born in Statesboro, GA to Logan and Eva Mae Hagan on April 11, 1938. She was a 1956 graduate of Statesboro High School. She was a 1959 graduate of the University of Georgia with a BS in Mathematics.
Her love of numbers was evident in the jobs she held through the years. She was a high school math teacher, a tax advisor at H&R Block and kept the books for Master City Classic Car.
She was an active member Warren Baptist Church where she served on the hospitality committee and helped spread the news of God’s love by going on many mission trips. She enjoyed volunteering at Martinez Elementary School in both the classroom and the media center. She was also a regular volunteer at Broad Street Ministries.
Faye is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years John E Pirkle Sr. Also preceding her are her brother and sister in law T.L and Catherine Hagan, and sister and brother in law Patsy and Levin Metts, all of Statesboro, GA.
Faye is survived by her son John E Pirkle Jr. (Debbie) of Martinez, GA, and daughter Myra Pirkle Smeak (Russell) of Evans, GA, Grandchildren Patricia Jean (PJ) Pirkle of Tuscaloosa, AL, John Logan Pirkle (Kelley) of Lawrenceville, GA, Rebecca Smail (Nick) of Augusta and Mitchell Smeak of Evans, GA. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm on January 3, 2023 at Platt’s Funeral Home on North Belair Rd.
Funeral services will be held on January 4th, at 11 am at the chapel at Warren Baptist Church 3203 Washington Rd, Augusta, GA 30907. Burial will be held on January 5th at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Warren Baptist Church Missions 3203 Washington Road, Augusta, GA 30907.
The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the nurses and aides at Harrington Park and Affinis Hospice for the wonderful, compassionate care they gave Faye during her extended illness.
