Evelyn Stone Rose, 97, gained her angel wings on April 1, 2022. She was surrounded by her daughter and son. Evelyn was born in Shorts Creek, Virginia, to Hobert and Gertrude Stone on May 6, 1924. She attended Hillsville High School and Virginia Business College. After entering the working world, she met the love of her life, the late Hubert Lester Rose, when she asked him to fix her camera which was not broken. They were married for 61 years and had two children. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Augusta and the Anna Bannister Sunday School class.
Her kind and humble demeanor, and her love of church, family, friends, and country shown through to all who knew her. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her eyes sparkled when she saw pictures of the great grandchildren: Lucy, Molly, Mark, and Davis and especially when they visited her at Brandon Wilde. Their smiles and laughter lifted her spirits.
In addition to her late husband, Hubert Lester Rose, Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents: Hobert and Gertrude Stone; her brothers: Clifton, Thomas, Herbert, and Ronald Stone; her sister-in-law: Nadean Robinson Stone, and her son-in-law: Mark Lester Moseley.
She is survived by her children: Joyce Rose Moseley and Hubert Lester Rose, Jr. (Marsha); grandchildren: Andrew Clay Moseley (Suzanne) and Jennifer Moseley Shearouse (Clint); great grandchildren: Lucy, Molly, and Mark Shearouse and Davis Moseley; sisters: Virginia Stone King, Myrtle Stone Peverall, and Bertha Stone Marshall (Troy); her sister-in-laws: Reba Melton Stone, Juanita Myers Stone, and Goldie Vaughn Stone; and many nieces and nephews.
