Erlinda T Ong

Erlinda T. Ong, 83, of Evans, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 27, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.

Erlinda was born in Carmen, Agusan del Norte, Philippines on September 17, 1942, to Teofilo Taer, Sr and Corazon Limpiado Taer. She was one of five children.

She attended Southwestern University and graduated in 1964. She flew to the Netherlands to work as a Neonatal Nurse for 3 years at Leiden University Medical Center. She went home to the Philippines and had 3 kids while working as a public health center nurse for 18 years.

She was appointed as the Vice Mayor of her town for 2 years. In 1989, she arrived in Tennessee and after a while transferred to Augusta, GA. There, she established herself as a Psych nurse at University Hospital, VA Hospital and Psych hospital. She retired gracefully at the age of 60.

Erlinda is preceded in death by her husband, Guillermo Ong, parents, Teofilo Taer Sr and Corazon Limpiado Taer, and Quintin Balbuena, Jr.

She is survived by her daughters, Gwendolyn Belongilot (Melvin) and Leiden Payumo (Willy), siblings, Beatriz Delvo, William Taer, and Teofilo Taer Jr, grandchildren, Thaj Belogilot (Abby), Chederli Belongilot Chu (Jordan), Merq Belongilot (Chloe), and Willeigh Payumo, and great-grandchild, Franklin Belongilot.

The family respectfully invites you to attend a service in remembrance on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Platt’s Funeral Home, located on North Belair Road in Evans, Georgia. Services will be held at Platt’s Funeral Home in Evans, Georgia, where the family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM in Platt’s Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 PM at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Augusta, Georgia. Burial will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
