Mrs. Elizabeth C. Swearingen, 91, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 4, 2011.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 7, 2011 at Platt’s Funeral Home Belair Rd. Chapel with Dr. Michael L. Davenport officiating. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Swearingen was born in Tuscaloosa, AL to the late Robert W. and Helen Clark. She worked as an Administrative Assistant at the Medical College of Georgia until her retirement in 1980. Mrs. Swearingen was a member of Pine View Baptist Church and a Charter member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and enjoyed caring for other people. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Survivors include her sons, Charles C. Wood and wife Linda of Evans, Robert E. Swearingen and wife Jan of Augusta, Jim L. Swearingen and wife Debbie of Augusta, her brother, Robert “Bobby” Clark and wife Colette of Augusta, her sisters, Nina Hubbard of Grovetown, Anna Kate Moody of Augusta, Betty Miller of Muscogee, OK, 9 grandchildren, Suzanne Gamel, Barbara Hedges, Jennifer Rachels, Ashley Wood, Amie Swearingen, Julie Swearingen, Jessica Boyd, April Wheeler, Joseph Swearingen, 11 great grandchildren, step son, Jerry Swearingen and wife Brenda, step daughter, Rosemary Brown and husband Jake. Mrs. Swearingen was preceded in death by her first husband, the late Charles Cecil Wood, her second husband, the late Leonard B. Swearingen, her daughter, Ellen Wood Dubson, two brothers, Emory Clark and Rev. Charles L. Clark, two sisters, Louise Drawdy and Helen Clark.

Pallbearers will be Rob Hefner, Perry Maddox, Phillip Harris, Kurt Boyd, Keith Rachels, Danny Harris, Joseph Swearingen, and Randy Wheeler. Honorary pallbearers will be Pete Steele, Ricky Luke, Bruce Johnson, and Jimmy Harris.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
