In Loving Memory of Eleanor Agatha Williams (née Peets)
August 5, 1944 – February 20, 2025
With profound love and deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Eleanor Agatha Williams, aged 80, who left this world peacefully at her home in Augusta, GA, on February 20, 2025.
Eleanor was born on August 5, 1944, in Basseterre, St. Kitts, West Indies, to Arlington Peets and Winifred Peets (née Edinborough). From her earliest days, Eleanor radiated warmth, kindness, and an enduring strength that would shape her life and the many lives she touched.
On December 22, 1966, she married the love of her life, Eric Denzil Williams, with whom she shared nearly 55 beautiful years of marriage before his passing at the age of 83. Together, they built a family rooted in love, faith, and dedication.
Eleanor’s legacy lives on through her beloved children: Jehu Peets, Amelia Gordon, Eloise Williams, Les Roy Williams, Elinor Gallelli, Cassandra Williams, Orpah Williams, and Celestine Williams. She was a cherished grandmother to eleven grandchildren: Jehu Jr. and Eshcole Peets, Kamahl Rabsatt, Gene Jr. and Jinell Industrious, Coco-Chanellé, James, Mia, Rasheed, Syieda, and Khaleb Williams, Dominic and Gabriella Gallelli; and six great-grandchildren, Dmoi, Demari, Denasia, Genique, Ajani and Lia-Rose.
Eleanor is also survived by her loving siblings: sisters Odette Ramsey, Lois Cannon, Erica Baker, Lydia Lewis, Joyce Davis, Cynthia Peets, Pearl Peets and her brother Willis Peets, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who will forever hold her memory dear.
A lifelong learner and dedicated professional, Eleanor earned an Associate of Arts degree in Secretarial Administration from the University of the Virgin Islands. She went on to serve as a secretary at Ulla F. Muller Elementary School in St. Thomas, USVI, where she made a lasting impact on students and staff alike. After relocating to Augusta, GA, in September 1993, Eleanor continued her career in education, working with the Richmond County Board of Education at Roy E. Rollins Elementary School as a Teacher’s Aide, Secretary, and Data Entry Clerk until her well-earned retirement.
Eleanor’s true calling, however, was her deep and unwavering faith. A devoted servant of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, she dedicated her life to studying the Bible and sharing God’s Word with all who would listen. Her spiritual journey led her to author two profound books, “From Sin to Son or Daughter” (1999) and “Works of the Flesh” (2005), both of which continue to inspire and guide readers in their faith.
Her gentle spirit, boundless love, and passion for truth will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Whether through her words, her writing, or her simple acts of kindness, Eleanor touched countless lives and left an indelible mark on the world.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Platts Funeral Home in Evans, GA, at 11:00 AM, with her daughter, Minister Amelia Gordon, officiating. Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation two hours prior, from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Eleanor will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at Westover Memorial Park, a reunion of two hearts that shared a lifetime of love.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the compassionate caregivers at Crescent Hospice for their kindness and support during Eleanor’s final days. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Samaritan’s Purse International Relief, an organization that reflects Eleanor’s lifelong commitment to helping others.
Please leave your condolences and memories in the online guestbook as we honor the life and legacy of this extraordinary woman.
