Elaine A. Sanders, 89, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2025, in Augusta, Georgia.

Born on September 3, 1935, in Clinton, Massachusetts, Elaine grew up with a strong sense of purpose and a deep commitment to education. She received her degree in Accounting from Salem State College and her Masters in Secondary Education from the University of Hartford. Elaine went on to teach high school in Seoul, Korea.

While teaching in Seoul, she met her husband of 64 years, Cliff. She immediately became a devoted officer's wife and together they built a family rooted in love and mutual respect. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Colonel Rabun C. Sanders, Jr., U.S. Army, Retired, her son Rabun Sanders III and his wife Tori Sanders; her grandchildren Broderick Sanders, Samantha Kloc, and Courtney Sanders; each of whom brought immense joy to her life. She was predeceased by parents William and Mae Coccione, her sisters Lorraine Coccione, Judith Fateiger, Carole Pietro and Janice Gannon.

Elaine was known for her kind and loving nature. Her confidence and competence were evident in all she did—from Officer Wives' Club President at Fort Riley, KS to Assistance League of Las Vegas Treasurer. A dedicated volunteer throughout her life, Elaine gave generously of her time and energy. She also found great pleasure in exploring the world with Cliff, tutoring, reading, and playing bridge, where her sharp mind and strategic thinking shone through.

Elaine’s legacy lives on in the lives she touched through both quiet acts of kindness and steadfast support. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
