Elaine Cathey

Elaine Cathey, age 77 entered into rest on Monday, December 7, 2020.

Elaine was born in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Walter Rothman and Willa Mae Stewart Rothman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Deschner; brother, Bobby Rothman; and sister, Donna Lujan.

Elaine was a talented and exceptional seamstress who also enjoyed shopping, reading, and winning big on the slot machines. She was full of life and will be remembered for her sweet spirit and infectious smile.

She is survived by her five children, Mike Cathey (Katie) of Lipan, Texas, Robin Vigliotte (Bill) of Pensacola, Florida, Wanda Smith (J.G. Rush) of Hull, Georgia, Lynn Dominguez (Rudy) of Evans, and Travis Cathey of Salley, South Carolina; two sisters; Linda Nelson and Rosie King; 16 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and several loving nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 P.M. Friday at Platt’s Funeral Home Belair Road. Facial coverings will be required and social distancing is requested.

A graveside service will take place at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, December 12, 2020 in Jefferson Pentecostal Church Cemetery near Athens. Reverend Gary Hosch will officiate.
