Edwena E. Crosby entered into eternal rest on Monday May 11, 2026, after a long life marked by compassion, service, and unwavering devotion to the people she loved.
A proud graduate of Kingstree High School and the Columbia School of Nursing, Edwena dedicated more than 25 years of her life to caring for others in nursing homes throughout Columbia, SC, and Augusta, GA. Her gentle hands and steady heart brought comfort to countless patients and families. She later continued her calling at GSSH, where she served faithfully until her retirement. Her work was never just a job—it was a ministry of kindness.
Edwena was a longtime member of Martinez Methodist Church, where she found fellowship, purpose, and joy. Her faith was quiet but strong, reflected in the way she treated every person with dignity and grace.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bobbie Joe Crosby, their beloved dog Sue and her brother, Samual Eagerton.
Edwena leaves behind a family who adored her and carry her legacy forward: her daughter, Dee Kirby (Keith Ellis); her son, Scott Hunnicutt; and her stepson, Joey Crosby. Their lives are forever shaped by her love, her strength, and her example.
Graveside services will be held 10:30am on Wednesday May 20, 2026, at Bellevue Memorial Gardens where she will be laid to rest next to her loving husband, with Pastor Mike Snyder officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org or Martinez Methodist Church, 3614 Washington Road, Martinez, GA 30907 - two places that reflect Edwena’s lifelong heart for helping others.
Edwena’s life was a testament to kindness, faith, and quiet resilience. Those who knew her will remember her gentle spirit, her steady presence, and the way she made every person feel seen and cared for. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched.
