Edward Moody, Jr.

Edward Franklin Moody Jr, 92, a native and lifelong resident of Augusta, Georgia passed away on August 11, 2026.

He married his childhood sweetheart, Martha Goodwin, and enjoyed a wonderful marriage of seventy-three years. He was the only child of the late Edward Franklin Moody, Sr and Louise Bryant Moody. Ed was an exceptional athlete at Richmond Academy, and became a high school and college referee after graduation. As a gentleman of many talents, he became the perfect manager for the Georgia-Carolina Warehouse and Compress Company. After retirement, he found a second career in sales at Pontiac Master and then as Sales Manager at Regent Security. As an active member of Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church he served as a Deacon and Elder. He enjoyed membership in the Downtown Kiwanis Club and the Augusta Country Club, where he served on its Board. He enjoyed many rounds of golf at the Augusta Country Club with friends where his competitive spirit, good humor and low handicap made him a welcome addition to any foursome- especially with the A6A and Memorial Day tournaments with the “Walmart” group. Martha and Ed’s homes on Sudlow Lake at “Toonerville” and “High Cotton” were enjoyed by family and friends. Entertaining with water skiing and afternoon cocktail cruises were a must. Ed also found renewal boating and fishing on the Coosaw River at Paukie Island on the South Carolina coast. He was legendary for full crab traps which were shared by all! Ed is survived by his wife, Martha and their three children, Edward Franklin Moody III (Wendy), Martha Moody Crosland (Ed), Robert Goodwin Moody (Wren) and his brother-in-law Jim McLellan. Other family members include seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, a nephew and spouse, and great nephew and niece.

The family would like to thank the caregivers and friends at Barclay House and Harrington Park for their exceptional care and support. 

A celebration of life will be held at Reid Memorial Church on Saturday, August 15 at 11:00 a.m. All friends are asked to join the family in the fellowship hall after the service. A private interment is planned.
