SSG Edward Anton Fruchtl (US Army RET.), beloved husband of Diane Zoldi Fruchtl, entered into rest on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 in Augusta, GA.
Edward was born on March 1, 1941 in Lewiston, Idaho to John and Junie Fruchtl. As a young man, he joined the US ARMY. Edward served 20 years, during which he survived two tours in Vietnam, relocated his young family to Germany and ultimately rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant.
After his military retirement, he continued his service, civilly, at Eisenhower Military Hospital on Fort Gordon, GA from which he retired in 2006. He spent the remainder of his retirement with Diane, making eternal memories with their family.
In addition to his wife, Diane, he is survived by his children: Lori Spell (Jade), Beth Black (Christopher) and Kimberly Miller (Kevin), his grandchildren: Teddie Black Garnett (Mike), Georgie Blake (Alex), Parker Bowman, Emily Pearson (Caleb), Anna Black and Bethany Spell, and his great grandchildren: Brody and Brynn Garnett. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jacob Spell.
Edward will be honorably laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery this spring.
