E. Thomas Burckhalter, Jr.

E. Thomas Burckhalter, Jr., 80, of Evans, entered into eternal rest with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren following a brief illness.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Thomas Burckhalter, Sr. and Hilda Sturgis Burckhalter of North Augusta, South Carolina. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Janis Haskell Burckhalter; his children, Jennifer Finch (Andy), April Keefe, Clay Burckhalter (Katie), and Bryce Burckhalter (Austin); his grandchildren, Madison Fernandes, Harrison Fernandes, Julia Finch, Caroline Finch, Knox Burckhalter, Finn Burckhalter, and Elsie Burckhalter; and his siblings, Don Burckhalter (Jane) and Kathy Mitchell.

Tommy served thousands of clients in Augusta and the surrounding area over a fifty-year career as a financial advisor. His love of the outdoors and his beloved dogs made him an avid huntsman and fisherman. He traveled as far as the Scottish Highlands, the Canadian wilderness, and the salmon-filled waters of Alaska to fulfill boyhood dreams.

His greatest joy was knowing that all of his children know the Lord and have personal relationships with Him. He shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone he had the opportunity to engage in conversation, which over the course of his life was many people. He lived a life marked by study, devotion to his faith, integrity, and honesty.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Christ Church Presbyterian in Evans, with the family receiving mourners beginning at 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. A graveside ceremony for the family will follow.

The Burckhalter family will receive visitors between 4:00–6:00 p.m. at their home in Evans, 4362 Lake Idylwilde Drive.
