Mr. David McCord, Jr. entered rest on July 17, 2024, at Doctors Hospital, Augusta, Georgia. David (Stud) was born on August 4, 1938, to the late David McCord, Sr., the late Beatrice McCord. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Cluese McCord and Robert W. McCord, and three sisters, Annie Mae Hillman, Allean McCord, and Dorothy Hester.
At an early age, David loved to hunt and fish. As a teenager, he began pouring concrete with his dad, which led him to work thirty five years as a maintenance supervisor for Martin Marietta Augusta Quarry.
David loved fishing so much that he would spend early mornings until late afternoons fishing in the quarry pond; catfish was his favorite. David would entertain his family and friends with his life’s history growing up in rural Georgia. Mr. McCord did not let his health stop him from the daily visits to Shelia and Mitch’s home, checking on his siblings, and sitting at the round table at Allens Country Store with friends.
Mr. McCord was baptized and attended Gospel Water Branch Baptist Church in Evans, Georgia.
David is survived by his loving wife of over sixty years, Mrs. Emma Lousie McCord; three sons, Jerry (Gloria) McCord, Larry L. (Deborah), and Barry McCord; three daughters, Anna Taylor, Shelia (Mitchell) McCladdie, and Macilla McCord; one brother, Claude (Julia) McCord; four sisters, Annie Beatrice McCord, Daisy McCord, Juanita McCord, and Mary Etta McCord; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great -grandchildren; and a host of loved nieces, and nephews.
