David Patney Jones, loving husband and father, entered eternal rest on July13, 2026. He was the son of the late Pastor William Henry Jones and Ms. Jimmie Lavern Dean, both of Augusta, Georgia.
A native of Augusta, David graduated from Evans High School and later attended Augusta College, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Biology. After 25 years of dedicated service, he retired from SRS as a quality engineer.
David loved the outdoors and found peace in nature—whether hunting, fishing, or simply walking the greenway. He enjoyed singing, dancing, and listening to music, and he embraced life with joy and gratitude. David was a humble man, rooted deeply in Christ, thankful each day for God’s blessings even in difficult times. He loved people wholeheartedly and often encouraged others in their moments of need. He believed that following Christ was the most important calling anyone could have, and he lived his faith quietly and consistently every day.
David leaves behind his wife of 18 years, Mrs. Kathleen K. Jones; his daughter Erin Jones Ledford and her husband Tyler Ledford; his son Evan Jones and his wife Jessica Jones; and his son through marriage, Christopher C. Rachels and his wife Kayla Rachels.
He was blessed with ten grandchildren. Ledford grandchildren: Perrie, Paytney, Quinton, and Lynnon. Jones grandchildren: Ava and Elsie. Rachels grandchildren: Micha, Roan, Gage, and Daniel.
David is also survived by two brothers: William “Freddy” Jones and his wife Donna, and Pastor Jerry Jones and his wife Becky.
His life was a testament to faith, kindness, and gratitude. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
