AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Darlyn Reese Greene, 78, entered into rest on Nov. 10, 2025, peacefully at her home. The family will receive friends Monday, Nov. 17, 2025 at 1 PM in the chapel at Warren Baptist Church on Washington Rd. Augusta, GA Funeral service will Ffollow, at 2:00 PM with Reverend Greg Hatfield officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Cemetery.

Born in Augusta, GA, she was the daughter of the late William T. Reese and Macy Avrett Reese. Darlyn came to know the Lord at the age of 12. She loved the Bible and could quote much of it. She taught school for 23 years and was known among colleagues for exceptional skills in teaching American History. Darlyn married her husband of 57 years, William Thomas Greene, Jr., on Sept. 22, 1968. She was a devoted mother of two boys and a talented musician. She played the organ and piano for several churches, starting at an early age at her eldest brother’s church. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was an avid gardener. She loved cats and dogs, having homed several rescues and beloved family pets.

She is survived by her husband, William Thomas Greene, Jr.; her sons, William Thomas Greene, III (Davida), Lawrenceville, GA, and John Anthony Greene (Jennifer), Augusta, GA. She has seven grandchildren: Rachel Greene Stephens (Johnathan), Lawrenceville, GA; Rebekah Greene Stinson (Jacob), Huntsville, AL; Hannah Greene Sethman (Ron), Cleveland, TN; William Thomas Greene, IV (Alea), Harrison, TN; Holly Greene Rutland (Henry), Suwanee, GA; Ethan Anthony Greene, Augusta, GA; and John Thompson Greene, Augusta, GA.

She has nine great-grandchildren.
